The Three-Year Smile of Death Arc is the 104th story arc of the Ranma ½ manga, spanning one chapter. It was included as part of Volume 34 of the Weekly Shōnen Sunday tankōbon and volume 32 of the Viz Media tankōbon.
After Mousse accidentally throws some fireworks at Shampoo, which he'd intended to be used as a way to show his love for her, instead of beating him up like she usually does Shampoo simply smiles and asks why she would do that. Mousse assumes Shampoo is using the Three-Year Smile of Death technique and goes to the Tendo Dojo in order to get help from Ranma. Ranma, Akane and Mousse (who's now in his cursed form) return to the Cat Café, where Shampoo begins doing indirectly very harmful things to Mousse, such as washing a bag while he was in it and breaking the table he was hiding under in two.
After Cologne shows Ranma a video of how to release the energy of hatred within Shampoo, Ranma tries to do the technique but is too afraid of what Shampoo might do to him. When Ranma fails his two attempts, Mousse tries and is promptly beaten up by Shampoo. Despite failing the technique, Cologne then congratulates Mousse as by having Shampoo beat him up the hatred energy stored inside her has been released. Shampoo is confused however and asks what the "Three-Year Smile of Death" is, much to shock of everyone else. Later on Ranma explains to Mousse that Shampoo didn't beat him up because her conscience was bothering her, as she'd washed Mousse's clothes with his glasses inside and accidentally broken them by doing so.
