The Octopus Trap Arc is the 44th story arc of the Ranma ½ manga, spanning one chapter. It was included as part of Volume 19 of the Weekly Shōnen Sunday tankōbon and volume 17 of the Viz Media tankōbon.
Plot Summary[]
Ranma, Soun and Genma travel to a seaside resort town that has been harassed by a "living octopus trap". As soon as they get there they hear reports of the trap stealing food and bothering women. They use Ranma to lure the trap, and discover that it was Happosai who had been terrorizing the town. The locals end up thinking that they had been conspiring with Happosai and beat them up. Happosai returns to the Tendo house[1].

Major Events[]
- Happosai returns after being carried off by Pantyhose Taro.
Changes in anime[]
- The Anime never really acknowledges what happened to Happosai after Pantyhose Taro took him. In the anime version, we never see him drop Happosai. Plus, no matter which order you're following, Happosai already returned in previous episodes.
- There are a few more jokes about Genma and Soun being here for free food.
- The main change is the addition of the anime-exclusive character Tsukasa, a sickly woman living by the seashore. Happosai is stealing so much, because he befriended her and is trying to care for her (although she's clearly taking advantage of him). She quickly finds a replacement though, so Happosai decides to go back home.
