Plot Overview

Ranma's Fiancé's Targeted

Ukyo is walking the streets of Furinkan and walks a past a seemingly sickly old woman who, despite being ignored by Ukyo at first, ends up getting her attention. When Ukyo rubs the persons back it turns out to be Ling-Ling in disguise and she along with Lung-Lung who strikes Ukyo from behind. However, the two are quickly defeat by Ukyo who asks the pair who they are, causing the pair to sorrowfully apologise. However, the hand-baked heart-shaped Okonomiyaki Ukyo had made for Ranma flies threw the air and lands on the ground ruined. This is good news to Ling-Ling and Lung-Lung who decide that this means she can't seduce Ranma and maybe there isn't a need to beat her up. Unfortunately for the pair, Ukyo hears this and angrily talks to the pair saying that they were planning to beat her up, she then sends the two flying.

Undeterred the pair move on and attack Kodachi, who's feeding some Koi, by having Ling-Ling disguise herself in a frog suit and jump out of the pond while Lung-Lung again strikes from behind. However, Kodachi simply asks what the pair think they're doing in Mr. Green Turtle's (Mr. Scaly Green in the dub) pond. Mr. Green Turtle then jumps up behind Ling-Ling while Lung-Lung completely misses Kodachi and causing her to collide with Ling-Ling and the pair fall into the pond, quickly followed by Mr. Green Turtle.

Only Akane's Left

Despite failing the take care of both Ukyo and Kodachi the pair then go after Akane. After Akane blocks they're initial strike she enquires as to why they're in Japan when they should be in China. Ling-Ling and Lung-Lung explain that they can't while Shampoo is being disgraced by not marrying Ranma, so they've come to make sure he keeps "his promise" to marry Shampoo whether he wants to or not.

The pair continue that they've heard of Ranma's many fiancés so they'll get rid of them until Shampoo's the only one left, the two then brag about how easy the first two were to defeat to unsettle Akane.

Quotes

Trivia

  • In spite of being the the main motivation for Ling-Ling and Lung-Lung's actions for this episode, Shampoo does not make a physical appearance outside a brief flashback.
  • It's possible that the events of Shampoo's Red Thread of Dread!, which nearly resulted in Shampoo's marriage to Ranma, are what spurred Ling-Ling and Lung-Lung to come back to Japan.
  • This episode mentions that Ling-Ling & Lung-Lung didn't realise that there was Japanese Jusenkyo springs which turns the victim into an Alligator. This is of course an incorrect assumption by the two as there isn't a Japanese Jusenkyo which turns the victim into an Alligator.
  • This is the last TV episode where Teryl Rothery voices Kodachi Kuno (though Rothery still voices her in the OVA series and her laugh in Big Trouble in Nekonron, China). Erin Fitzgerald will replace her in season five and Sylvia Zaradic will take over the role in seasons six and seven.
