Let's Study! (勉強しよう! Benkyo o shiyo!?) is the 317th chapter of the manga. It is also the second and last chapter of the Infinite Ki Arc.

Synopsis[]

Ranma is caught by Ms. Hinako and attempts to get rid of her fish.

Plot Overview[]

Ranma is caught by Hinako while looking for the fishbowl. He notices that she was holding it with her. He grabs a blanket and pulls it over between them. She blasts the blanket away, but Ranma uses body replacement technique to get behind her and snatch the fishbowl.

Akane arrives and begins ringing her doorbell, when suddenly the door is blasted open. Akane finds Ranma with the fishbowl and asks what he's doing there when Ms. Hinako comes out still wearing the bath towel. Akane doesn't hesitate in seeing Ranma as the aggressor and beats him up while Hinako takes back her bowl.

Back inside, Akane realizes Ranma wasn't here to rape her and asks about the fish. She reveals that the fish are in fact Siamese fighting fish, and the battle they are having is giving her a constant supply of ki. The ki is then fed to Hinako by the round opening of the fishbowl. Finally at an advantage, Hinako hands Ranma the textbook so they can study in her house. Ranma changes tactics and says how grateful he is for having her as his instructor. Hinako feels moved by his sudden change of heart and moves to embrace him, but Ranma grabs the bowl out of her hand and pours it into a rectangular fishbowl. Hinako is instantly turned into her child state.

They spend the rest of the evening playing cards and video game. Before they leave, Hinako suddenly remembers what she was doing and takes out her coin to perform Happo Fifty-Yen Satsu but finds that all the small coins had a sticker over it preventing her from absorbing Ranma's ki. She then takes out the poi she used in fish scooping game, which Ranma hadn't anticipated. She regains her adult form and rapidly fires several Happo No-Yen Coin Return in succession. Ranma is quickly defeated and the fish are put back into the round fishbowl.

Akane suggests that Ranma should just try paying attention for once, which Ranma reluctantly agrees to. They then turn to find their teacher sleeping. After waking up, Hinako prepares her anti-drowsiness measure by taking out several clothespin and places it around her face. Now fully awake, she suggests they watch an English lecture tape. But once she puts it in, they realize that the tape is actually Doraemon. Despite this, they watch all of it. She then begins scribbling in the textbook to create a flip book in the corner of the pages.

Hinako finally recognized that she was getting distracted too easily. Akane figures that this is because being in her adult form for too long put too much stress on the body, and Ranma decides to cover up the fishbowl and let her return to her child state to recover. She returns to her child form and becomes playful. She and Ranma start playing games as the sun begins to come up.

The next day, Ms. Hinako arrives in class with the fishbowl, but she and Ranma quickly fall asleep, exhausted from playing all night.
