The Shampoo Intro Arc is the seventh story arc covered in the Ranma ½ manga, spanning six chapters. It was included across Volume 3 of the Viz Media publication and in Volume 4 of the Shonen Sunday publication.
Plot Summary[]
After eluding Shampoo, Ranma explains to Akane how he beat Shampoo back in China and has since been relentlessly pursued by her in order to get revenge. Later that day, however, Ranma beats Shampoo whilst in his male form (which Shampoo has never seen before); resulting in Shampoo being in love with Ranma's male form.[1][2]
As she spends more time with the male Ranma, Shampoo begins seeing Akane as an obstacle to getting Ranma's love.[3] This leads her to use a technique known as Xi Fa Xiang Gao along with a special herbal shampoo to wipe all memories of Ranma from Akane's mind.[3][4]
Once he learns of what Shampoo's done from Dr. Tofu, Ranma tries to retrieve the shampoo Shampoo used.[4] Unfortunately Dr. Tofu destroys the piece of paper which explains how to make the shampoo that would restore Akane's memories; whilst Shampoo tells Ranma she'll only hand it over if he kills the female Ranma (who Shampoo believes to be different people).[5]
Luckily Ranma succeeds in restoring Akane's memories by insulting her multiple times. Shampoo, however, decides she'll just use the shampoo again. Seeing himself with no other option Ranma reveals his Jusenkyo curse to Shampoo, causing the deeply hurt Shampoo with other choice but to return to China.[6][7]
